London SE1 website team

Police investigating a double shooting at the Elephant and Castle on Sunday have arrested two men. One of the victims remains in a critical condition.

The men, one aged 25 from the Brixton area and the other aged 19 from Peckham, are being interviewed at south London police stations.

They were arrested late afternoon Monday 16 October.

Two men were shot. The first victim – aged 28 – left the Ivory Arch nightclub on Walworth Road where a man (or men) approached him and after a brief scuffle, shot him in the buttock.

He made his way under the railway bridge in the direction of Newington Butts when more shots were fired. He is now believed to be recovering well.

The second victim was outside the Ministry of Salsa at the time and was shot in the head. He remains in a south London hospital in a critical condition.
