Floods add Venetian touch to the Globe

London SE1 website team

The set for the Globe's production of The Merchant of Venice had added authenticity when water flowed under the bridges in the yard during Friday's torrential rain.

The water was cleared before groundlings arrived to take their places for the 2pm performance of The Merchant of Venice.

Elsewhere in SE1 the subways at Elephant & Castle were temporarily flooded. Throughout the afternoon shoppers had to wade through an unpleasant sludge left behind when the water drained away.
