London SE1 website team

British Transport Police are appealing for help from the public after a human foetus was discovered in a toilet block at London Bridge Station on Friday morning.

BTP Detective Chief Inspector Martin Fry said police were called to the toilet block on platforms 5 and 6 at London Bridge Station after a cleaner reported the discovery of a human foetus in the women's toilets.

"The foetus was discovered at about 9.40am and the cleaner raised the alarm.

"We are very concerned for the wellbeing of the mother who has miscarried and are urging anyone who used the toilets between 8.40am and 9.40am today [Friday] to contact police.

"The mother may be in urgent need of medical help. We have checked with local hospitals but the woman at this stage has not presented herself. I would urge anyone who has any information to contact us as soon as possible."

Anyone who was in the station toilet this morning and saw anything that may assist police with their investigation are asked to contact British Transport Police on 0800 40 50 40 or the Witness Appeal Line on 020 7391 5275.
