Lant Street-based recycling firm Paper Round has been named Best Performing Newcomer of Year at the Mayor of London’s Green Procurement Code Awards.

Deputy Mayor of London Nicky Gavron presented Paper Round director Bill Swan with the award at a ceremony held at Shakespeare's Globe on 30 October.

Paper Round was founded in 1989 by Friends of the Earth and is now a standalone business recycling for more than 3,500 London offices. The firm's administration offices are in Lant Street and its warehouse is in East London.

The award acknowledged Paper Round's dedication to 'buying green'. Almost half of the company's total procurement budget is classified as green and responsible.

"We are very pleased to have won this award and will be continually looking for ways that we can not only improve, but also how we can assist and influence our customers in making a real difference too," says Bill Swan.

Apart from replacing kettles with innovative and energy saving zip taps, all of Paper Round's marketing collateral is printed on recycled paper, all toners and printing cartridges are remanufactured, they purchase recycled toilet paper, coffee and tea is fairtrade and almost all paper used in the office is 100% recycled.
