The second annual Better Bankside Pancake Race was held in Montague Close on Shrove Tuesday.

Eleven teams from local businesses and organisations took part in the lunchtime race outside Southwark Cathedral.

The team from Medicare First – a social care employment agency based in the Hop Exchange on Southwark Street – won the competition. The Team branding consultants and the Mercure London City Bankside teams were runners-up.

The event was in aid of Paintings in Hospitals, the charity which runs the Menier Gallery on Southwark Street.

Other organisations fielding teams included Southwark Cathedral, Bridge Human Resources and car club Zipcar.
