Officers from the British Transport Police are looking to identify a man, pictured in the CCTV photograph, in connection with the incident which occurred at around 11.40pm on Monday 29 September.

The victim was assaulted after he accidentally bumped into another man while passing through the ticket barriers towards platforms 1-6 at London Bridge Station.

"After the two men bumped into each other, the victim was head-butted and punched in the face several times, leaving him with severe bruising," explains PC Daniel Rolfe.

"The man then boarded a train from either platform 3 or 4 at the station. Officers were called to the scene but the man had already left."

PC Rolfe added: "I am treating this incident very seriously. This was a vicious and unprovoked attack on a man who was simply making his way home and I am asking anyone with any information about this incident, or anyone who recognises the man pictured in the CCTV image, to come forward and talk to us."

• Anyone who has any information about the incident, or who recognises the man pictured in the CCTV image, is asked to contact British Transport Police on Freefone 0800 40 50 40 quoting background incident B4 of 7/11/08 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
