A Greek roadshow has arrived at Potters Fields Park for the launch of five city Europen and American tour.

The World of Athens 'Sphere' is offering a sensory introduction to Athens. Inside the dome there are video projections which at night are visible from the outside.

The free Bank Holiday weekend event is promoting not only holidays in the Greek capital but also the opening next month of the new Acropolis Museum.

Speaking in Potters Fields Park before the opening, Greek Tourism Minister Konstantinos Markopoulis said: "This is an exciting initiative aimed at promoting Athens and Greece in the European and American tourism market."

The 'Sphere' will move on to Paris and Berlin before being assembled in New York and Chicago.

Greek dancing, music and food can be enjoyed on the lawn at lunchtime and 5pm.

The World of Athens is open daily 10am to 10pm until Bank Holiday Monday night.
