The new Snowsfields Wellness health food shop in Snowsfields has now opened a clinic in the same building.

Snowsfields Wellness opens new clinic

The founder and owner is writer and naturopathic nutritional therapist Marissa-Catherine Carrarini who lives nearby.

"All Snowsfields products are from ethical and eco concious companies," says Marissa-Catherine standing in front of the very popular clear glass litre bottles of apple juice from Kent. She indicates, without using the phrase, that 'food miles' should be kept to a minimum where possible.

But this does not stop the shop from stocking French almond milk which is very difficult to find elsewhere in London. Non food items include recycled toilet paper.

A party on Wednesday night marked the launch of the naturopathic clinic in the converted basement.

Treatments to be offered include massage, sports massage, craniosacral therapy, osteopathy, nutritional therapy, western herbalism, naturopathy and chartered counselling psychology.

"The clinic is a beautiful, eco, wellness space," says Marissa-Catherine. "A space to embrace long-term health and well-being, a space to relax, discover and be listened to."

The treatment rooms are minimilist in decoration with vintage furniture.

"We believe that health is not just about making the individual healthy but making everyone and everything healthy," explained Marissa-Catherine.

In one room ancient pipework, looking like a complicated sculpture, has deliberately been left exposed as a reminder of the building's age and history.

Marissa-Catherine was brought up in the world of nutrition and health. Her parents are Jean-Charles and Rose Carrarini who founded Villandry. They now run the already legendary Rose Bakery near the Gare du Nord in Paris selling Eccles cakes and Neal's Yard cheeses to the French.

Their daughter hopes that Snowsfields Wellness, which she describes as a fun and thoughtful health centre, could become a similar popular destination for its rare products.
