Man assaulted in Tanner Street after 'demand for cash'

A 51-year-old man was taken to hospital after he was assaulted in Tanner Street on Wednesday evening.

Police were called to Tanner Street – near the junction with Riley Road – at around 6.30pm on Wednesday.

Southwark Police say that the man's injuries are not life-threatening.

Detectives believe that the victim was sitting in his car when three men pulled up behind him. Two of the suspects approached his vehicle demanding money before assaulting him.

Officers from Southwark Police's priority crime unit are investigating the incident.
