Guy’s and St Thomas' hospitals launch iPhone app

The My Visit app provides outpatients with a range of tools to manage all aspects of their hospital visits – from where to catch the bus to what they need to bring with them.

"At Guy's and St Thomas' we are dedicated to providing the best possible experience to patients when they attend our hospitals," says medical director Dr Ian Abbs.

"Our staff strive to identify new and innovative ways to make this experience as easy as possible and the My Visit app is a great example of this."

The app's primary function is to manage appointments, including checking, changing or cancelling them, and it automatically updates the patient's iPhone calendar with appointments and reminders.

The app includes information on public transport, maps and way finding information to help patients find their way around the hospitals, a directory of departments, information on where to find services such as restaurants and cafes and details of what to bring to the appointment.

This is the first patient app developed by the trust which runs SE1's hospital following the launch of a number of clinical apps including Thrombosis Guidelines and the Paediatric Emergency Drugs app devised at the Evelina Children's Hospital.
