4G wireless broadband now available to Bankside homes and offices

Residents and businesses in the Bankside area can now sign up to a wire-free broadband service using 4G mobile spectrum.

Now Broadband's service does not require a fixed phone line – its nowBox just requires a mains power socket. The company claims to offer speeds of up to 40Mbps for downloads and 5Mbps for uploads.

Now Broadband's parent company UK Broadband switched on its Southwark network in February and after trials with a number of local customers is now making its service available to paying subscribers. Prices start at £21.50 a month including VAT.

Many of the participants in the trial were recruited through the Better Bankside business improvement district.

"We are really excited to offer residents and businesses in Southwark the opportunity to enjoy superfast 4G wireless broadband using our service," said Nicholas James of Now Broadband.

"Our services offer a truly flexible, hassle free alternative to fixed line broadband services. Whether you own a business and want to offer high-speed wifi to your customers or want to ensure you have a reliable back-up internet connection, or you simply want to enjoy super-fast browsing in the comfort of your home, this service provides instant connectivity.

"Just plug in and get online – it is as simple as that! And the best thing is, if you're not happy with the service then there is a 14 day money back guarantee."

Now Broadband is being coy about the exact geographical area covered by the service, but experimenting with the postcode checker at www.mynow.co.uk suggests that homes and offices in the Bankside area from Blackfriars Road in the west to Borough High Street in the east and as far south as Webber Street and Great Suffolk Street should be able to subscribe.
