Elderly woman seriously injured on South Bank: was she pushed?

London SE1 website team

Detectives in Lambeth are appealing for information after an elderly woman was seriously injured on the South Bank last month.

The incident took place between 6.30pm and 7.15pm on Saturday 3 August outside the Sea Life London Aquarium at County Hall.

The 79-year-old woman was visiting London on holiday. She was walking along the Thames Path when she believes she was pushed.

She fell forward, striking her head and was assisted by passers-by.

"The victim initially believed that she was OK and was able to walk away from the scene," said DC Turton of Lambeth CID.

"It was only later that the seriousness of the injuries came to light. We would like to speak to anyone that witnessed this or indeed those who came to her aid.

"The South Bank was very busy that day and people may remember the date as the RideLondon event was on."

Anyone with information is encouraged to call DC Turton who is investigating this case on 07785 774447. Alternatively you can report information anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
