Miriam Adeagbo was presented with a £25 book token and a framed copy of her winning design by council leader Peter John on Tuesday morning.

Cllr John also gave the school a big box of arts and crafts materials to reward them for their efforts.

"Miriam's design was bright, jolly and very Christmassy – just the thing I was hoping for when we asked Grange pupils to help us design a Christmas card," said Cllr John.

"We had so many great designs to choose from but Miriam's is the one that will be landing on doormats across Southwark and even as far afield as New York."

"I really enjoyed my visit to Grange. Everyone made me very welcome and I'd like to wish all the pupils and staff a very Merry Christmas."

Headteacher Maddy Webb said: "All our pupils love art and so we were delighted to be asked to design the council's Christmas card.

"There were lots of great cards to choose from, but Miriam's stood out and she was really pleased that the leader made a special trip to congratulate her."
