Sailing yachts return to Tower Bridge after round-the-world race
Tower Bridge lifted at lunchtime on Saturday as the top three yachts in the Clipper Round-the-World Race performed a lap of honour round the Upper Pool.
Twelve yachts set off from Tower Bridge on 2 September last year and have spent more than ten months on a 40,000-mile circumnavigation of the world.
The vessels returned to London on Saturday for a 'parade of sail' up the Thames to St Katharine Dock.
Tower Bridge lifted to allow the first, second and third placed yachts to take a spin round the Upper Pool before returning to St Katharine Dock for the prizegiving.
The Henri Lloyd was the overall winner of the race which involved 670 crew members from 42 different countries.
