UKIP didn't field a candidate in Bermondsey & Old Southwark at the 2010 election, but the party's representatives reached sixth place (0.7 per cent) in 2001 and fifth place (2.1 per cent) in 2005.

Listen to the audio clip above to hear what Andrew Beadle – a former Conservative council candidate who voted for Tony Blair's New Labour in 1997 – has to say about UKIP's local prospects this time round.

• This is part of a series of interviews with Bermondsey & Old Southwark parliamentary candidates: see also Steve Freeman and Lucy Hall.
