Sculpture stolen from Tanner Street Park

Each weekend in June award-winning local artist Austin Emery hosted a series of stone sculpting workshops in Tanner Street Park.

More than a hundred artworks created during the workshops were exhibited in the park during the first fortnight of July – but one of the pieces has gone missing.

The sculpture entitled 'Medal of Honour', created by Doni, is now unaccounted for. The piece measures approximately 12cm x 18cm x 2cm.

"Upon collection of all the other 100+ pieces, it was confirmed that this one piece of sculpture is missing from our body of work created by participants throughout the workshops in June," said Austin Emery.

"Having looked heavily in the immediate vicinity where he had placed his sculpture for show in the exhibition (near the most southerly entrance/exit to Bermondsey Street), and furthermore throughout the park whilst taking down the exhibition, we have not, unfortunately found his beautiful piece of work.

"This loss of this artwork has been reported to the police and is being treated as a suspected theft. Action taken is focused on the safe return of the sculpture... rather than punitive measures."
