'Maybe it’s because I’m a Londoner' - Borough Welsh Choir

London SE1 website team

Members of a local Welsh choir brought some much-needed cheer to the Borough on Friday evening when they gathered to sing outside a local pub.

Members of Cor Y Boro gathered in St Thomas Street – opposite The Bunch of Grapes pub – to sing a selection of English and Welsh songs and hymns including Guide me O thou great Jehovah, Jerusalem and Maybe it's because I'm a Londoner.

The Borough Welsh Choir – which rehearses at the Welsh Chapel on Southwark Bridge Road
– was revived last year and competed at the National Eisteddfod in Abergavenny.

The original Borough Welsh Choir won the National Eisteddfod in Liverpool in 1929.

• On Sunday 11 June the 11am service at the Welsh Chapel will be taken by church leader Eiri Jones and will include reflections on the events of the past week in The Borough.
