Old Kent Road on the agenda at Cannes MIPIM property show

London SE1 website team

Architects and planners took part in a panel discussion about the regeneration of the Old Kent Road at the MIPIM property trade show in Cannes, France, on Wednesday.

Southwark Council didn't send any representatives to MIPIM this year, with a former Southwark planning officer instead joining the panel discussion about the Old Kent Road at the London pavilion.

Gordon Adams is a former team leader for major planning applications at Southwark and is now head of planning for the Battersea Power Station developers.

He was joined on the panel by Geoff Brocklehurst of HKR Architects, Jane Groom of the London Communications Agency and Gorana Shepherd from Pilbrow and Partners.

Public consultation on Southwark Council's Old Kent Road Area Action Plan – which sets the blueprint for 20,000 new homes to be built over the next 20 years – closes on Wednesday 21 March.

Southwark is currently recruiting a head of planning and regeneration for the Old Kent Road on a salary of up to £89,520.

The council's Old Kent Road team is currently led by Colin Wilson, whose two-year secondment from the Greater London Authority was announced less than a year ago.
