Oral History Workshop

Full Spectrum Productions is looking for enthusiastic volunteers aged around 60 to take part in an oral history workshop exploring the cultural diversity of the 1950s and 1960s youth scene in Lambeth.

The workshop is part of the 'Hanging Out' project, funded by a grant of just over £150,000 from the Heritage Lottery Fund.

The oral history workshop will enable older citizens from diverse communities to reminisce about the fashions, music, sport, film and entertainment of the 1950s and 1960s and share their experiences about growing up and hanging out in Lambeth during this time.

Young volunteers who took part in the oral history workshop training at the Metropolitan Archives in February, will interview the elders and document their stories.

The workshop will be filmed and included in a documentary to be premiered at the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A) in 2012. The documentary will be produced using material from research, one to one oral recorded interviews, photographic archives, and interactive discussion workshops.

The information gathered from the workshop will also be included in a special book to be launched at the V&A. The publication will be free to secondary schools, colleges, libraries and museums.
