The Walking Boat

This event is in the past. This is an archive page for reference.

The Walking Boat is an extraordinary, kinetic work of art created by sculptor Andrew Baldwin.

His astonishing piece, a 40ft walking boat that has been under construction for two years, is the culmination of an artist's imaginative vision, dedication and exceptional talent as a sculptor and blacksmith.

The boat is currently moored at Trinity Buoy Wharf and will be brought by its creator into the heart of London, where it will walk out of the Thames onto the Bankside foreshore by Tate Modern.

Last October crowds lined the riverside to witness an unsuccessful attempt to 'walk' the boat out of the water and onto the beach.

During the winter Baldwin has been hard at work ensuring the boat's legs are in full working order ready for this new attempt.
