London Honey Festival

Local honeys being cultivated across the capital will be on show at the festival, which is organised by Capital Growth's bee campaign and supported by the Royal Festival Hall and the Co-operative.

The event is free for both beekeepers and the public, and is part of the celebrations to mark the 60th anniversary of the Festival of Britain.

Visitors will be invited to taste and vote for their favourite locally produced honey, with the winners receiving a new beehive and beekeeping equipment sponsored by Thorne beekeeping supplies and BBwear bee suits. Prizes will be presented by BBC presenter and beekeeper Bill Turnbull.

Nearly 40 stalls representing a wide selection of London's beekeepers will be offering their honey for sale and there will also be observation hives to see the bees in action and events for kids.

The festival is supported by local restaurants and shops which will be celebrating their links with local beekeepers by putting 'London Honey specials' on their menus; from honey cocktails to honey-marinades and dressings.

The four-hour festival will also include children's activities, film shows, honey massages and a demonstration of honey extraction.

Part of the 60th anniversary celebrations for the Festival of Britain.
