Waterloo Walk with Old Maps

This event is in the past. This is an archive page for reference.

Walk with old maps led by Ken Titmuss.

Take a walk beyond the bridge and round the most perplexing railway station in London that once upon a time had a platform for the dead.

Follow a trail of topographical street names, unremarkable buildings with remarkable stories and call up the memory of local worthies including Emma Cons, Eleanor Coade and the Gold Refiner of Meymott Street.

In the last 60 years the riverside wharves have been transformed into the capital's cultural quarter, yet the other three quarters of this quintessentially London neighbourhood has a tale or two to tell.

As you turn into what was once Neptune Place will you ever find the Half-penny Hatch?
