Old Southwark in the Blitz

This event is in the past. This is an archive page for reference.

Neil Bright leads a walk looking at how this historic borough and its citizens coped during several phases of the Blitz.

Southwark is steeped in evidence of the Blitz: you will see reminders of bomb blasts at Guy’s Hospital and Blackfriars Road.

Hear of the horrors of Wardens’ Post 6 and the Surrey Theatre and see a rare relic of the Blitz - an Emergency Water Supply sign. Plus much more.

The walk is supported with photos from the Blitz and personal accounts.
