At about 7.30am the flame will be carried on board the royal row barge Gloriana at Hampton Court Palace.

The flame will light a ceremonial cauldron on board Gloriana and over the course of the morning seven torchbearers will light a torch from the cauldron and carry the flame for about eight minutes each.

Gloriana will be rowed by 16 oarsmen and women who will be drawn from a squad of 28 rowers on board the boat.

Gloriana is expected to pass Westminster Bridge at approximately 11.55am.

The finale to the public participation in the torch relay will see the last torchbearer on the River Thames carry the flame to Tower Bridge for a final photo opportunity in front the Olympic Rings at approximately 12.45pm. The flame will then remain out of public view at City Hall until it appears at the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games.

A message from Southwark Council

"If you are intending to watch the torch make its way up the river, please come prepared for the expected hot weather and leave plenty of time for travel.

"As crowds may be large, those not intending to watch the torch should anticipate some congestion in the riverside area in particular.

"We're unaware of any planned bridge or river path closures for vehicles and pedestrians tomorrow. However, if these areas become too congested then they could be closed at short notice by Transport for London and the private land owners on the advice of the police.

"Please note that Southwark Council is not responsible for any closures that may take place."
