Bankside Walk with Old Maps

This event is in the past. This is an archive page for reference.

Join Ken Titmuss for a walk with old maps exploring ancient streets where once there were theatres, bear-baiting and fish ponds.

There are almshouses, hop Merchants and a miraculous section of the Bishop of Winchester’s Palace.

Along the way you will trace the sites of lost burial grounds and walk the street laid out by Joseph Bazalgette.

You will encounter Hester Thrale, David Kirkaldy and William Shakespeare.
