The City of London branch of the Maritime Volunteer Service (MVS), a national charity, is offering local residents and other local people a two-hour boat trip around the Pool of London on board their 45 foot launch Londinium 1.

Participants will be told about the history and maritime heritage of the Pool of London.

There are 10 places available on each trip, making a total of 60 people.

The trip is free but places must be booked, with a £3 deposit payable on booking, which will be returned during the trip. Bookings will be taken by West Bermondsey Community Forum (WBCF) at their office in the Charterhouse-in-Southwark building at 40 Tabard Street SE1 between the hours of 10am-4pm Mon-Fri. If you cannot come during these times, please contact WBCF (020 7403 9683 or [email protected]) as there may be a possibility of booking at other times by arrangement.

The trips are open to anyone who is interested in the Pool of London and who lives, works or has a business locally, or has some other local connection. Non-locals may be taken if there are spare places available; there will be a reserve list.

Unfortunately the organisers cannot take anyone under the age of 14. If you may have difficulty getting on and off a gently moving boat involving 2 large steps, please contact WBCF for advice.

The departure pier will not be known until the last moment, and may not be in the Pool of London area. There will be an information line to keep participants informed about this and any other last minute-changes.

This event is provided by the Maritime Volunteer Service and supported by the Pool of London Partnership Small Grants Fund in association with PricewaterhouseCoopers.
