First in a series of evening talks led by Southwark cathedral historian Guy Rowston, uncovering the stories of Southwark and the cathedral at its heart.

In the first week, Guy will explore the Roman settlement, the medieval priory and the founding of St Thomas' Hospital. Hear of a royal wedding, race riots and the brothels of Bankside. The Inns of the Borough and the pilgrimage trade that fuelled them will be examined. Finally this week's session will end on the closure of the Priory.
