London History Day tour and workshops

This event is in the past. This is an archive page for reference.

Southbank Centre's 'Patchwork of the Century' is a special quilt made for the Festival of Britain in 1951. It is now on permanent display in the Royal Festival Hall and is one of the largest and most unique objects in the collection. The Patchwork of the Century offers a creative insight into British history and is an integral part of the Royal Festival Hall's heritage.

For London History Day, Southbank Centre will be offering a special talk on Southbank Centre's rich history and its 1950s roots.

There will also be a special tour of the grade I listed Royal Festival Hall, and an opportunity to take part in a practical creative workshop where you too can explore the craft of quilt making in drop-in workshops.
