Art Workshops at Hankey Hall

Over some very chilly January evenings, artist Ana Laura Lopez de la Torre enticed residents of Tabard Gardens Estate, community leaders and local historians to put on extra hats and gloves and take her on a series of walks exploring their unique, historical area. Intriguing stories of war time bombs, tarmac-defying mushrooms and fierce lady rent-collectors emerged in addition to some of the better-known Chaucer and Dickens connections.

The stories and mappings, old and new generated by the walks will be used as a starting point for a week of free art workshops for children and young people during February half-term, using a range of creative techniques including drawing, collage, painting, mono-printing, and creative writing. The workshops are primarily for young people from the Tabard Gardens Estate but are open to all.

On Thursday 19 February there will be a day trip to Tate Modern for a special workshop led by artist Michele Fuirer. There are 10 places only available for young people aged 10-16. Those interested need to apply for a place by contacting 07951 237 015.
