The fetes, fairs and street parties of yesteryear helped a generation develop a set of skills that have lain dormant for many years. But now the London Bridge community has the chance to re-live those halcyon days and introduce their children to games such as 'hook the duck' and 'hit the high striker'.
Of course, traditionally the art of hooking the duck must be honed while eating candy floss, so Team London Bridge are providing free green candy floss.
There will also be a book exchange and the chance for little ones (and older folk with no green fingered ability) to learn about how to grow food from gardening experts.
The garden itself was redeveloped in 2009 by Team London Bridge to provide a new public space while the gardens themselves are tended to by St Mungo's 'Putting Down Roots' group who engage the homeless community.
