A bachelor flat featured in the hit film Bridget Jones’s Diary is up for sale - for more than £3 million.

The three-bedroom flat, which overlooks the Thames near Borough Market, was home to Hugh Grant’s character Daniel Cleaver in the 2001 comedy.

As amnesiac spy Jason Bourne, he has faced assassination plots and CIA enemies - but last night it was eager fans who stopped Matt Damon in his tracks.

The star of the Bourne trilogy interrupted filming of the final movie, ‘The Bourne Ultimatum’, to sign autographs and pose for photographs with admirers.

The 36-year-old actor was filming the final scenes of the movie at the capital’s Waterloo station, in which he had to walk into an internet cafe with a pad of paper under his arm.

The announcement of the Royal Festival Hall’s reopening season got a lot of coverage on the arts pages, including this interview with Jude Kelly in the Telegraph.

It was noticeable that few of the papers adopted the South Bank’s new ‘Southbank Centre’ styling.

Southwark Lib Dems have been putting out leaflets in Cathedrals ward “welcoming” Cllr Danny McCarthy to the Labour Party (though he denies that he has joined the party).

Isn’t it about time the Lib Dems updated their own website, where Cllr McCarthy still figures prominently?

New CCTV unit at Southwark Police Station

A new police unit is radically improving the way that CCTV footage is processed.

The eventual aim is to turn the gathering of video evidence into a third forensic specialism alongside DNA analysis and fingerprinting.

There are 4.2 million cameras in the UK but until now there has been no dedicated police unit to deal with the collection and dissemination of CCTV evidence.

If the new Visual Images, Identifications and Detections Office (Viido), based at Southwark Police Station, is judged to be a success it could soon lead to the development of specialist CCTV units across the country.

Design Museum reveals 2007 programme

The Design Museum has announced its first programme of exhibitions under the new directorship of Deyan Sudjic.

Highlights for the year include Zaha Hadid – Architecture and Design, the
first full scale show of Hadid’s work in the UK and the largest project undertaken
by the Design Museum.

Hadid has designed the new Architecture Foundation building to be constructed in Southwark Street.

“We are working on a programme that looks at the whole range of what design
can be – monograph shows on major figures like Sottsass and Hadid, as well as
exhibitions that offer a spring board for young talent”, says Deyan Sudjic, “We
want to bring together fashion, graphics, product design, and architecture, and
show that they have a place at the heart of contemporary culture.”
