About this role

The EmploySE1 project was launched in January 2011 by three Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) in Southwark - Better Bankside, We Are Waterloo and Team London Bridge. BIDs are independent, non-profit companies owned and led by local businesses that exist to improve a given location.

Matching local jobs with local people is the aim for EmploySE1, an innovative project to create more local employment in Southwark and Lambeth. We are looking for a highly motivated EmploySE1 Coordinator to manage the programme and effectively build relationships with corporate-sector businesses, relationships with corporate-sector businesses, publicly-funded service providers and voluntary organisations.

This role is the perfect opportunity for the right candidate to help promote benefits of local employment to companies in the three BID areas and facilitate local recruitment with publicly-funded recruitment agencies in Southwark and Lambeth.

Person description

The right person will be a self-starter: confident and able to work on their own initiative. They will be comfortable working across multiple organization and offices. The postholder will bring their knowledge of the employment landscape to this exciting interim role.

About Better Bankside

Better Bankside is a Business Improvement District (BID) in Southwark, London. Its aim is to make Bankside a thriving place to work, live and visit and, ultimately, to become the 'best neighbourhood in the world'. Better Bankside was formally established in 2005 and was the third BID in the UK and the second in London.

A Business Improvement District (BID) is an independent, business-owned and led company, which seeks to improve a given location for commercial activity. Better Bankside's members are the 600+ companies in the BID area (between Hatfields in the west and London Bridge in the east, and south from the River as far as Union Street, Borough Station and Webber Street) who pay its annual 'levy'. Many of these are heavily involved in the governance of the company.'
