About this role

An exciting opportunity has arisen to be part of a great team in an inspiring, creative and supportive environment.

Approximately 15hrs per week contract at £12ph – exact timings vary but approximate spread over Monday (7 am – 5 pm) and Wednesday meetings (9.30-11.30 am) and 3 hours spread over rest of week to menu plan, order food online other administrative parts of the role. Additional hours may be offered for training. Chef experience in a leadership position and a flexible positive attitude essential. You also need to have experience of working with vulnerable adults, and ideally with volunteers

Essential

Knowledge and experience of being the lead kitchen Chef

Knowledge and experience of vegetarian and vegan cooking

Knowledge and Experience of Menu planning and food ordering

Knowledge and experience of working with vulnerable adults, ideally volunteers

Relevant Health & Safety and Food Hygiene certificates

Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a closely knit team

Creative, adaptable and flexible with a "can do" attitude

Desirable

Knowledge and experience of training and overseeing volunteers in food preparation on-the-job

Able to deliver food demonstrations to an audience

Knowledge and experience of social networking and marketing

Personal experience of mental illness and recovery

About Mental Fight Club

The Dragon Café is a thriving community art space and vegetarian café in Southwark, SE1. It is Mental Fight Club’s flagship project, a registered charity with a reputation for running inspirational creative events and projects around mental health. The café is open every Monday and serves a healthy menu made freshly on the day in our wonderful kitchen. The menu, which incorporates surplus produce donated from Borough Market, is different every Monday.
