Waterloo was filled with smoke and the smell of burning paint on Tuesday afternoon when a London black cab caught fire at Waterloo Station.

Southwark Liberal Democrats have launched a petition against Thames Water's plans to take over the Alfred Salter Playground in Druid Street as a work site for its new Thames Tunnel 'super sewer'.

Tower Bridge bascules could be used as advertising billboard

The bascules (lifting sections) of Tower Bridge could be covered in advertising for three months this winter if plans by the City of London Corporation are approved by Tower Hamlets and Southwark councils.
