No O2 Reception in Shad Thames

O2 may lose its exclusive on the iPhone 3g.

Oh thank goodness I found this thread! I've just switched from Vodafone to O2 two days ago and have barely no reception in Shad Thames. I'll be working at home and suddenly find there's a voicemail, despite the phone being on and not ringing. It's absolutely unusable.
I called customer services, who assured me this area shows "constant good reception" - I thought I was going mad, but then I found this thread confirming the poor reception.
Since I'm within my 14 days, I'll cancel the contract and return to Vodafone - which is a shame given that I really love the iPhone otherwise....

I find Orange to have the most consistent (and fastest) reception in & outdoors. My business mobile is on orange, my personal mobile is now on O2. The office I work in is near Jamaica road, but as soon as I walk down Shad Thames and hit Queen Elizabeth Street - BOOM, no reception.
I think I will write to O2 at some point and ask them about this.

Just checked the planning app for Tea Trade and it has been declined so little hope of o2 signal ever being any good in Shad Thames.

Enough to make you want to scream; that and not being able to get cable!

I'd like to thank everyone who has voiced their frustration at o2's reception in Shad Thames.
Having decided to give the iPhone a miss for the reasons outlined above, I'm now the very happy owner of a Google phone on T-Mobile, which has excellent coverage and just as many apps to play with.

Am I alone in finding that the O2 signal has improved over the last couple of days? I live in Queen Elizabeth Street and previously couldn't get an O2 signal at all. Now it is a strong as my work's Vodafone (three or four bars).
Hoping this isn't a false dawn...

My 3G signal is still very weak at the Horselydown Lane end of Shad Thames... is it a 3G signal you're talking about or a 2G one?

Only a 2G signal, Philippe, but previously I couldn't get any signal at all.
