Just to let other residents in SE1 know, that Gray St is cordoned off either end by police (now 10.15pm) and has been all day following an incident within the disused Partnership building on Waterloo Road. It appears a body was reported inside and the circumstances of the unfortunate man's death have been deemed 'suspicious'.

This all began at about 10.00am and resulted in 20 or so officers in riot gear entering the building and half a dozen homeless guys being brought out and taken away.

It's a disturbing turn of events in what has been a badly secured building providing a haven (and a lot of trouble) for squatters and now, homeless people.

I would say a squatter is by definition a homeless person occupying a building, and vice versa.

I have visited friends in squats a lot more discreet, safe and comfortable than Partnership House.

An awful thing to have happened. It should get pulled down quite soon as they got planning permission for the redevelopment.
