today had the audacity to say the Elephant and Castle was the roughest area in South London...what a pillock! Where's Jackie? go and throw a clod on the clod's head!

It says it's "one of the roughest areas", which is not quite so outrageous, though still wide of the mark.

yep it's not borne out by crime statistics and it misses the point about guerrilla gardening... it's nothing to do with crime, it's all about livening up built-up and bleak areas, which I think we'd agree is E&C.

I tried to write about our local gardeners and allotment vegetable growing pioneers early last year and spoke to people who were even producing vegetables from their window sills. I was impressed but it was the wrong time of year to get pictures so I didn't do it in the end. Bermondsey and Borough have emerged as 'cool'places and Elephant will be next, as soon as they have restructured the ill conceived roundabouts.
