Shops selling alcohol after hours

I'm all up for shopkeepers making bucks however they can, because there are so many mugs out there that can be exploited - it's easy money, so why wouldn't they?
I've been a mug - I have paid upwards of £2 for a bottle of mineral water at festivals. I didn't have to, but it was convenient and I realised the price was par for the course.
I even pay 45p for a pint of milk every day, even though I know if I bought it in a supermarket instead of a newsagent, I'd pay about 13p less.
In fact, I'd like to give shopkeepers the power to spot mugs and up the prices when they think they've got one. Might keep the prices down for the rest of us.
Same for alcoholics - whack the price up to our 'unwashed friends', the type who hold out a handful of money for the shopkeep to help themselves too 'cos they're too drunk to focus on the individual coins - and keep the price down for those of us who don't actually want to pay £6 for a bottle of plonk because the local Costcutter is the furthest we're happy to go...

try a bottle of ' Tonic Wine' enriched with iron ( Wincarnis?) it's about 70%..I had a very pleasant post-op recuperating period a few years back.
It must have been the iron that gave me the hangover...someone hit me with it! I got sloshed so quick...I feel rather poorly again..
need tonic...must have tonic.....

Or how about the opposite, James?
Shopkeepers should charge you more (because your slow-moving expensive plonk ties up shelf space). Also, I bet you shop at premium times when the shop is busy.
The Tenents-drinking gentlemen should get charged less. They buy fast-moving lines in some bulk, and (at Kevin's local shop, anyway) they thoughtfully choose to shop in the quiter times when there's less pressure on staff, allowing the owners to spread their overheads.

...there's plenty more c**** in the cup.

True...maybe we need Stelios to think about EasyBooze...
Like all his other operations (including the upcoming EasyPizza), if you order it well in advance and are willing to have it at a time of day no-one else wants it, you get it cheapest. That'd work...
Or, to be more honest, I'm actually disappointed that we don't have more of a 24 hour culture - like New York - where you can get a drink, a burger, or even a restaurant meal at 4am if you like.

A shop in Tower Bridge Road advertised: "pills (sic) £1 a can" a couple of years back. Now was this loopy juice for unwashed gentlemen of leisure, or disco-biscuits for cool clubbers? I never did find out. By the by, speaking of interesting spelling, a shop in the OKR had a sign in its window: "Awe phone cards supplied."

I'll always remember Stewart Lee's observation of market fruit + veg stall holders who abuse the apostrophe and write "Carrot's 50p". What? A carrot that actually has 50p? A capitalist carrot???

pesky puzzling 'postrophe...i often stick 'em in the wrong place! especially after tonic wine.
