Early life in Bermondsey

I too have just found this site and it was lovely to be reminded of so much.
I lived in the area until the mid 1990's and went to Galleywall Primary and SSSO from 1973 - 1978. My Mum worked in Crosse & Blackwells and Shuttleworths, my Aunt in Peek Freans and I was a Saturday girl for a couple of years at Dolcis, at the top of East Street, corner of Walworth Road. I remember John Bennetts, my pie mash shop was the one in Peckham Park Road (although I liked The Cut best) and used most of the pools including Grange Road and Southwark Park Lido.
I remember the subways with horror too, having had my bum pinched by a weirdo (for want of a better term); I always used to climb the fences, which was not easy with the school skirt!
Do you remember Mrs Zammett? I went to South London College to do a secretarial certificate and she was on the same course, having left teaching!

Yes, I remember Mrs Zammett very well - she taught religious studies and brought it all to life, a great story teller.
Today was the AGM of the Old Girls' Association and I went - it's a really good meeting - you don't feel like you need to impress anyone with how well you've done (which is just as well in my case!)Everyone is really friendly.
