My goodness Graham, does that mean you wont even sit at the same TABLE as horrible meat eaters? Sounds a bit extreme. Some of my best friends are vegetarians but it doesnt mean they wont meet me in a restaurant...

I think it was more about this meet-up was a veggie one, Jackie. We veggies eat with meat-eaters all the time. Jan's not veggie but my understanding was that she was joining in with us this time.

A bit off the Manzes thread Beetroot, many years ago I decided to cook my lovely brother a Christmas Day Feast alongside the traditional fare of turkey etc. the menu for him was a nut roast, lasagne, and a vegetable terrine followed by a bought veggie christmas pud. The lasagne was the type you had to soften in water and hang somewhere to dry off slightly, the only available space was over the backs of my kitchen chairs which had ladder type rungs..
I assenbled the lasagne, made the terrine consisting of spinach, cooked and mashed carrots, finely chopped cooked chestnuts layered with mascopne, feeling really pleased with myself.. dished up the turkey ( which was tasteless!) and found everyone tucking into the lasagne and terrine! and they all said how delicous it was..I could have saved the 20 pound I had spent on the turkey!
Just lately I can just about manage cheese on toast! lol..

I think Beetroot put it well, I'd be happy to attend a lunch with a meat on the menu, I often do (there is a picture of me eating at the Manze's in Peckham opposite a pearly king when I awarded them their plaque in 2005).
I would still like to organise a veggie lunch.
Anyone up for it?
