All about a poor victorian girl burried in the Crossbones grave yard in Borough.
Worth watchin on BBC I player if you like to know more about the History or SE1.

A fascinating, if somewhat grim reminder of the reality life and death for many in the area of Borough during the 19th Century. So far from the romantic vision of the era so often portrayed. Perhaps now we have a name for the memorial gardens when it comes into existence; Elizabeth Mitchell.

Just watched it, I am so pleased they showed the young lady without the marks of syphilis as well...

very sad life must have been then, odd to think that today girls are selling their bodies for drugs, not like the poor of yesteryear when they sold their bodies for food and shelter.

Sure I read on old bailey online cases that if a female was over ten it did not count as rape in the 18th century!

Poor girls...
