I went there for the first time the other week and very nice it was, good food, good value and very friendly service. Only thing I could fault it on was the fact it only opens weekday lunchtimes when I am at work, otherwise I would be a regular!
Have to agree with the consensus view on Zucca, it's very good indeed. My only slight grumble is that I found the service a little too formal.

Looking forward to trying out Zucca.
Had a great meal at Village East last Monday and the service was excellent. I also had bad experiences in the past, but perhaps they have improved.

Had a great lunch at Maltings last week - fantastic staff and great fresh (if small) lunch menu. They don't sell alcohol but said they are happy for people to bring their own.

I've had several good lunches at The Maltings, though not for a while. Good to know you can take wine, now. They have applied for a license but I don't know why they can't obtain one. Still....less expensive the other way.
Like many others, I am looking forward to visiting Zucca - have had excellent reports from friends.
I don't go to Village East often - too crowded for my taste, but I had a couple of good dinners there, 3 years ago.

Since the Maltings Cafe has been mentioned I'd just like to add my recommendation. I live in Maltings Place and when WFH on Fridays I pop in late morning for coffee and a cake, sometimes get lunch to take out too. Everything I've had there has been excellent, the place is bright, clean and inviting and you couldn't wish for nicer staff.
