I'm relatively new to the area and was thinking about signing-up to be a mentor at a local school or youth group, but don't really know where to start (I also haven't done this type of volunteering before).

Any tips or suggestions gratefully received.

I'm sure Volunteer Centre Southwark - based at Elephant & Castle - can point you in the right direction: http://www.volunteercentres.org.uk/
