After all the pain she'd had to endure lately we can only be grateful that Hilary passed on peacefully. We'll always remember how vivacious she was, how devoted to any cause that needed her wisdom and her love of cream cakes !
Bless her, she'd be seen dashing here and there, coat flapping out in the wind behind her, off to sort out her next 'cri de coeur'.
We know how highly thought of she was by her colleagues in the LibDems, and how she even made it to watch the Polling day count in May,although she must have been in pain, but she would never have missed that occasion.
We were so glad to have known her, what a gal !
Sad news indeed. Hilary was a good friend of Southwark Park and in her mayoral year saw its restoration through a Lottery grant. She is remembered by many of us for climbing right up to the roof of the bandstand during its construction! She was also present when members of the royal family formally re-opened the park and footage of this is in a short film currently being shown at The Gallery in the park as part of the free "Our Park" exhibition. Open Wednesday-Sunday until 22nd August noon-6pm.
