I'm curious, is Elephant and Castle tube station supposed to be haunted? I've seen stuff online about plague pits and little girls running through walls but I wasn't quite sure whether it was just someone making it up on the fly or whether there is genuinely a more persistent rumour there. Any other locations around Elephant and Castle/in SE1 with gruesome histories?

Bermondsey tube. Old consulting rooms of the great Alfred Salter, but first recorded as Bermonds Marsh (doomsday book). Lot of people met their end around there!

I think the claims of several ghosts at E&C tube are fairly well documented in various haunted Underground books

The Haygate is apparently located on the space of a Leper hospital with associated graveyard.

There's the Workhouse off behind John Harvard Library which must've been the end for some poor wretches and of course Bedlam on the site of the Imperial War Museum.

There's also some info here about a poor unfortunate's mother who "was drownded"(sic) in a ditch by the Crown and Anchor, New Kent Road and whose father died of an 'apoplexy fit' in the workhouse.

not sure about E&C Tube station, but I know the Bakerloo line depot on London Road is rumoured to be haunted by a nun from the RC school.
