The cafe and conference space on Southwark Bridge Road near the corner of Southwark Street has, as recorded at http://www.london-se1.co.uk/restaurants/info/501/cafe-arlington and on a notice outside, closed as of last Friday. Any idea why? No enlightenment evident on www.novasscarman.org , the charity that ran it as a social enterprise for the last four years.

Seems a pity. It gave former homeless and others the chance to gain hospitality skills and a no doubt much needed wage.

Another little blow for the Big Society?

I've walked past that place several times, and it makes no effort to explain what on earth it is. The name ("contemporary urban". What's that supposed to mean? It tells me nothing. We're all contemporary - with something - and the whole of SE1 is urban, isn't it?).

I'm not surprised if no one goes in there.

...if you press it, they will come.
