Quick Quesiton, has anyone heard anything further on the Gordon Ramsey Union Street Cafe? Do we know when they are due to open? I can't find anything on their own website and google only brings up a few news snippits from around Christmas time.

Where did this rumour spring from? I guess its not impossible but it seems a curious location for GR to base himself.

More than a rumour - Gordon Ramsay is/was a director of Union Street Cafe Ltd, which obtained a lease and a premises licence for the ground floor of Harling House.

The designated premises supervisor for the licence is Stuart Gillies, who is MD of Gordon Ramsay Holdings

Couldnt agree more, bizarre location for him to put himself. Things nearby at the Blue Fin building shut down, as did that awful italian apperetivo place which I cant remember the name of.

Not sure why GRH, which is apparently cash strapped, would want to set up something new there.

A few of the places at Blue Fin - I have to say were not very tasty and as such seem to have gone. The Apperetivo place was also not very good. I think however if the food is good then it survives.. funny that :). I am enjoying Vapirino and I do hope that makes it.

I think a low key GR Cafe could be good but it would be more of a formal lunch time business place (which is sorely lacking in the area - outside of Baltic).

Ok, I can see that maybe working, the area is getting busy so I can see this makes sense. With the arches filling up with a curious mix of tenants; dancing, boxing, pool hall, Aston Martin workshop, Dyson Picture Framers, some kind of performance space and a gym which appears not to be a gym (specialised looking kit in there, anyone know what that is?)

The area appears to be moving in an interesting direction.

It is the Crossfit Gym for the seriously fit and traing types. http://www.crossfitcentrallondon.co.uk/ (I cheated and went for fitness4less which for the price is a great bargin.

The little hidden arches is getting very trendy indeed.

Ah! Thanks for that Chloe. I was too nervous to even pop my head round the door seeing the crowd in there. It actually looks like something I'd enjoy but I with no prices upfront I'm guessing its pretty expensive. Yes, the Fitness4less is a good deal, will be signing up soon.
