Hi,

Can anyone advise me on decent pubs on or around Jamaica Road? I'm going to the Castello Pizzeria there but want to find a suitable place to meet and have a few drinks in before and/or afterwards.

About 5 - 10 min walk is 'The Ship Aground' on Wolseley Street, Dockhead. It's a good, friendly pub, and probablyu the nicest one in the area.

The Angel down by the water (go down the road opposite Castello). It's in need of a spot of decorating, but it overlooks the water and is quiet and friendly.

The Angel will be closing for some much-needed refurbishment - lastest date quoted when I was in there a fortnight ago was that their last day of opening would be 12 June. Apparently there are no plans for a restaurant in the new incarnation.

Dunno what Sam Smith's are thinking of closing a riverside pub during the summer season!

Whats the Boatman like just along the road, that used to be a great pub...

what a bizarre decision! The Angel is always buzzing during the Summer!

Mayflower in Rotherhithe is nice.
