Just got notification that Duke Street Hill/Tooley St (eastbound) will be closed between Borough High St & Stainer Street from Monday 14 November 2011 until mid February 2012.

Gas main renewal in the main but other utilities/media going to work at the same time.

It looks like the eastbound RV1 will be diverted across London Bridge (as it is when Tower Bridge is raised)

DUKE STREET HILL SE1 - ROUTE RV1: From 0900 Monday 14 November until 0900 Wednesday 28 December 2011, buses towards Tower Bridge will be diverted between London Bridge and Tower Hill due to gas main renewal work.

DIVERSION:

Stops not served - London Bridge Station, Hays Galleria, Abbots Lane, Tooley Street/City Hall, City Hall, Tower Bridge Road/Tooley Street, The Tower of London.

Surely sending them down St. Thomas Street would have made more sense?!

It may be that the hydrogen buses haven't been cleared for the Stainer Street tunnel yet.

It's going to be fun when St Thomas Street is closed for several years and the Stainer Street and Weston Street tunnels no longer exist as vehicle routes!

So, just to check, closed EASTBOUND, presumably that means that traffic will still be able to access Duke Street Hill and then turn left or right to either BHS, or London Bridge if coming WESTBOUND from the direction of Tooley Street/TBR?

I presume Jim means when the London Bridge (station) redevelopment gets under way. The tunnels will be incorporated into the station and, for the several years that the work will take, St Thomas' Street will be a building site.

The Weston St tunnel is good for cycling. Will there be any alternative cycle routes anyone know?
