Deliveries/Collections from Yodel

I have been waiting since monday for a Yodel delivery and still nothing, as far as I can tell they haven't even attempted to redeliver despite me organising it from their website. I do think SE1 has a delivery problem, especially large groups of flats, I think lots of delivery people just can't be bothered as I had a similar problem with DHL 2 weeks ago, where according to their tracking service it was being whizzed around Lambeth for a whole 3 days before it finally got to me.
I'm so happy it's not just me!

Definitely not just you. I expected a parcel from Brand Alley in November which seemed to circuit between here and their New X depot with no option to collect from them, no card and after two attempts (they claim) it was returned to sender, so at least I got a quick refund as Brand Alley consider a return a 'don't want' rather than delivery company couldn't be bothered to seriously attempt delivery. Hawkshead package before Christmas caused a similar problem except that was finally delivered to a neighbour after I'd gone away for Christmas and I have just had the opportunity to drop off at Costcutters as of course I don't need it now. Personally when possible I ask people to send packages Royal Mail if I have any suspicion in might be Yodel or HDN

I believe Yodel took over the DHL local delivery service, so even if it is still branded as DHL it is actually Yodel doing the delivery.

To add balance - the 2 times I have asked Yodel to collect an Amazon return they have been on time and very professional.

Even the call centre is alot to be desired. The operator was rude and laughed at my 3 non collection days. I asked her if the call was recorded as I was going to report her and she said she didnt care as they dont deal with complaints.
Booked in again for Monday 12.30 until 4.30, lets hope they turn up.

I had a 'signature only' package that had been booked for a Yodel saturday delivery. They came a day early and left it with a neighbor. Tried to collect from neighbor all weekend but they weren't there. By the tuesday, still not able to collect. Called Yodel and they claimed that it had been delivered to my house and signed for by me (?). Eventually managed to get from the neighbor on Wednesday.
Farcical.

Had similar problems with Yodel. Amazon were pretty good about it. They seemed to know about the problems and sounded as if they were thinking about using another delivery service (we can hope!). They also delivered using another carrier when I complained.

In response to the £1m weekly losses, Yodel chief executive Jonathan Smith, says: "We can see a return to profit, but steps need to be taken first, and a move to a local courier model will play a part in that, as will a consolidated property portfolio. We know we have to be competitive and need a lower operating cost base, as it is tough for all parcel carriers at the moment."
However, the firm, which is owned by billionaire businessmen Sir David and Sir Frederick Barclay, is still aiming to achieve a £1bn turnover with a 10% to 15% return in the next few years.

I'm not convinced that complaining to the delivery company is the the right thing to do for the most part; If you're not their customer (ie the organisation that pays their invoices), why should they care?
If you buy something for delivery, your contract is with the supplier. In turn, they contract to the useless delivery company.
So, make sure the problem is with your supplier. Phone them, not the delivery company. Make them spend time dealing with the non-delivery and, in extremis, tell them you'll take your business somewhere else which has a decent delivery company.
The supplier (who actually pays the courier) will quickly get fed up with this and will have more leverage on the couriers (eg by threatening to take their business elsewhere) than you do.
